Money issues challenge every family, no matter their background. That’s why Money Minded Families: How to Raise Financially Well Children offers advice on how every adult and child can be "financially well."  The book explores how we can align our individual values with finances, while planning for a more secure financial future. It looks at how we can save, spend, share, and invest with a purpose. The author supplies financial basics for families and direction on creating a family mission statement, in order to help drive mindful financial choices.

With the help of this book’s holistic financial guidance, families can take steps to live their best financial lives, rather than simply getting by. Readers will find advice on:

  • Practicing financial mindfulness
  • Understanding the current financial landscape
  • Spending with a focus on personal values
  • Understanding key financial concepts
  • Engaging in healthy financial socialization
  • Becoming financially independent

Today’s financial environment sets up unique challenges, including concerns over Social Security, sky-high college costs, and debt. Kids are more likely to make their buying decisions online rather than in stores. It’s important that children’s knowledge about money begins in the home. When parents actively teach their kids about money, it can contribute to their chances of future financial success.

Within Money Minded Families, parents will find tools for evaluating and improving their own financial wellness. They can also teach their children about positive financial health using the book’s activities, which are organized by age.

From the Back Cover

We all want the very best for our children and do everything we can to ensure their physical and emotional well-being. But how many of us focus on their financial well-being? Although we teach our children to walk, talk, and explore their world around at a very early age, we usually don''t even think about engaging them with financial concepts until much later in life. This is a mistake. It is never too early to teach our children how to become adults who control their finances, achieve their financial goals, and have the financial freedom to enjoy their lives. As adults, we all know how important financial matters truly are to our quality of life and overall health. Why, then, must we wait years before having important conversations and experiences about money with our children? After all, isn''t parenting about teaching our children to make smart choices? Money Minded Families: How to Raise Financially Well Children will help you share invaluable teachable moments to shape your children''s future attitudes about money, lay the foundation for financial responsibility, and give them a lifelong sense of financial well-being.

You will learn to prioritize teaching your children smart financial habits and instill positive connections with money. This practical, easy-to-read guide provides you with numerous examples of how to talk to your children about money while explaining why these conversations are so vital to their financial well-being. Author Stephanie Mackara, a financial advisor and investment management expert, shares the lessons she has learned from her career in finance and her experiences teaching her own son. When you talk to your children about money, it''s important that you understand the fundamental principles of money management. This book''s clear and engaging chapters teach you to determine your unique money personality, develop a healthy financial perspective, set your baseline values and goals, think about money like a financial professional, and much more.

Today''s financial environment sets up unique challenges, including concerns over Social Security, sky-high college costs, coupled with instant access to stuff through online purchases and apps. Children are more likely to make their buying decisions online rather than in stores which creates mindless spending. In a culture where far too many young people expect instant gratification and are influenced by a range of social and media pressures, it''s no surprise that parents delay, or worse, avoid teaching their children about money. When parents actively teach their kids about money, it can contribute to their chances of future financial success. Money Minded Families will help you set your children on the path to becoming financially independent and successful adults.

"Money Minded Families" breaks down key financial aspects into easy to understand explanations. It also provides insight on different approaches to help guide and teach our children. This book is not only important for teaching children good money lessons, it helps parents understands some concepts more clearly and offers a new perspective. Basic finance is not a core subject in our early school years, which makes this book all the more important. This book can serve as a great road map for both parents and children. I recommend this book as a must read!

Reads like a story. This was a very approachable and very well written book, esepcially on such a technical subject. I can''t wait to give this book out to new parents, young and old.

I want to start by saying there''s a good bit of information in this book and I found the delve into history to be interesting. But that said, I''m a more patient reader than most. I''m not turned off by large chunks of text and meandering topics, but I''m aware that many people are.

This book is not the kind you can skim and get the gist of. It''s written densely with citation within the text instead of footnotes. There aren''t many visual elements like graphs, break out text or flow charts so visual learners might struggle with this.

Most of the advice she gives is spot on - she emphasizes saving, involving your children in all financial discussions and modeling good financial practices for them to see. But of course the catch is that in order for you to teach your children good financial habits, YOU must first have them yourself, which many American households struggle with.

this book is really dry; just the facts in a textbook format.

With the title being geared towards families and children, I was expecting a book that was far more approachable. This subject of money and finance lends itself quite well to charts and graphs. There are some in this book but the layout is boring; it looks self published.

In reality, this title is published by Wiley, a massive publisher for well over 200 years. The production value of the book is not good. Porous paper that is warping, along with the cover and a price that’s far beyond its pagination are adding to the negative appeal.

All things considered, good information but a chore to deal with it📚
